Privacy

The short version: your photo never leaves your device.

Most privacy policies are long because the site collects a lot. This one is short for the opposite reason.

Your photographs

The room colour matcher runs entirely inside your browser. When you drop in a photo, the image is decoded and the colours are counted by JavaScript on your own device. It is never uploaded, never stored, and never sent to us or to anyone else. There is no server involved at any point, and no copy of it exists anywhere but your phone or computer.

You can verify this rather than take our word for it: disconnect from the internet, load the matcher, and use it. It works. Nothing that needs a network could.

This will remain true. If Artsby ever adds something that does need to send an image somewhere, it will be a separate, clearly labelled feature that you choose to use, and this paragraph will change to say so.

Analytics and cookies

Artsby currently runs no analytics, no tracking pixels, and no advertising cookies. We do not know who you are, which pages you read, or where you came from. That is unusually little information to run a business on, and we may add privacy-respecting, cookie-free analytics later — counts of page views with no individual identity attached. If we do, this section will name the tool before it goes on, not after.

When you buy something

An order needs a name, an email address, a delivery address and a payment. We will use those to make and send your print and to talk to you about that order, and for nothing else.

  • Your payment details never reach us. They go directly to the payment processor. We see that a payment succeeded and the last few digits of a card, nothing more.
  • Your name and address go to the printer, because someone has to put them on the parcel. That is the only third party who receives them.
  • We keep order records for as long as Australian tax law requires, then they go.

Email

If you write to us, we keep the email so we can answer it and remember the conversation if you write again. We will not add you to a mailing list because you asked a question. If we ever run one, you will have to ask to be on it.

Generated artwork

Artsby is building a tool that creates original artwork from a colour palette. When it launches, the text description of what you asked for is sent to the company running the image model, because that is how the request is made. Your photograph is not — the palette is extracted on your device first, and only the resulting colours travel. This section will name that provider and link to their terms before the feature is switched on.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. Email hello@artsby.com and we will do it. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Affiliate links

Some links to other shops are affiliate links, and clicking one may let that shop know you arrived from here. We receive totals, never names — the full disclosure is here.
