Nail heights assume the hanging wire pulls down about 5 cm below the top of the frame. If yours uses a fixed sawtooth hook, add that 5 cm back on. Measure twice — walls are rarely as square as this drawing.

How to use the numbers

Nail across is measured from the left edge of your wall, along the floor.
Nail up is the height from the floor to the nail, not to the top of the frame.
The centre height is where the middle of the whole arrangement sits. 145 cm is the gallery standard — why, and when to break it.
